Mark Levinson LNP-2L
ほとんどが民生用として販売されたが、プロ機然とした検聴用モニターサウンドで、
音質はニュートラル。基本的な性格はスタジオユース用途の製品であるから、
民生用とは性格が全く異なり、色付けや個性があっては正確なマスタリングができない。
存在意義としては1974年に世界に初めて出現した現代ハイエンド音質のプリアンプで
あったことに価値があった。Ayer KX-Rのような最新鋭のハイエンドプリと
直接鳴らし比べて比較すると流石にもうかなり旗色が悪い。
音楽性には魅力がなく「いかにも大きなスピーカー」といった感じの大雑把な鳴り方をする。
JBLやTADの38cmウーファー搭載の大型スピーカーを手玉に取って小型ブックシェルフのように
ビシッと鳴らす制動力に定評があった。実物はとても立派で所有欲を満たせるような
モノとしての存在感がある。

これぞレビンソンサウンドの神髄という存在で、アメリカや日本のファンは
この狂気すれすれの際どく過激で、熱く情熱的で弾けるようなサウンドに痺れた。
レビンソン人気の火付け役となった。低域は薄いが、無駄な贅肉を削ぎ落した
ヤセ型の音がレビンソンの真骨頂。

モノーラル構成のプリアンプで、JC-2 ML-1Lと共通のモジュールを
使っている。音質的には、JC-2 ML-1Lグループと非常に近い物がある。

このグループはJC-2 ML-1Lのグループとは音質が大きく異なっている。
音色はやや暗めで、比較するとより温度感が高く、躍動的で、低音の量感も
豊かになっている。女性ボーカルなどを聴くにはこちらの方が良い。
人気が高く、JC-2やML-1Lも自分で使ってみてこちらを残される方も多い。
こう書いていくと、なにもかも良くなっているかのようだが、
JC-2 ML-1L ML-6がもっていた神懸かり的な something extra (なにか、特別な物)が
消失しており、本当に価値があるのはJC-2 ML-1L ML-6だと思う。

まさにステート・オブ・ジ・アート！レビンソンブランド
最初にして最高傑作パワーアンプ！ヴィンテージのトランジスターアンプで
モノーラル機・大規模・小出力・クラスAとくれば音がよいに決まっています。
天板に放熱スリットがない、EIコアトランスのものが価値が高い。
音質的にはかなりナローレンジ。バイアス調整は標準のままだと
かなり発熱するのでパワーの石が壊れる故障の発生率が高く、
しかもモノーラルアンプなので維持が難しい。

冷たい音色で超ハード志向でこのサイズと重量でこれほど迫力のあるアンプはない。
「これほど激しく力強い音の必要があるのか？」とHR＆HM好きの私ですら思う。
これほどの迫力型のパワーアンプは記憶にない。№20L №20.5L №20.6Lらと
同様に市場では人気がある。ソリッドでメタリックな金属的で激しいサウンド。
MLナンバーのアンプとは音質傾向が全く異なっている。
