命の次に大切なもの～燕雀安んぞ鴻鵠の志を知らんや

 

私にとって命の次に大切なもの。

それはパートナー（妻）の誇りである。

 

また、親の誇りも大切である。そして友の誇りも。

なぜなら、彼らは私を支え生かしてくれた存在だから。

 

また、誰もが永遠の命を有してはいない。誰もが、生まれたら死んでいく。

だからこそ、命を繋ぐためには、子供を産むことも必要だ。だが、ただ産めば良いというものではない。また、産まなくとも良い。もっとも大切なことは、すべての子供達が誇りを持てるように支援することだ。

 

それが、最終的には、私自身を支え生かしてくれた存在の恩に報いることになる。

 

そのように考えるからこそ、私は妻の誇りを大切に思い、彼女が自分自身に誇りを持てるように生きたい。

 

だが、その誇りとは妻自身の現実の感情とは異なることがあるかもしれない。

その意味は、私と妻との関係は、すでに恋人のような関係ではないことを意味する。おそらく、そのような考えに異論を持つ人も多いだろう。

 

それでも、私が考える、誇りとは、そんな感情から生まれるものではない。

 

誇りとは、自分自身の存在が生かされたと感じること。この場合、古今東西の人間が心の眼で私の妻を見た時、その存在が肯定されることだ。そして。私は、そうなるように生きたい。

 

翻って、今を生きる日本人も、たとえ、祖先や親の判断と行動に多少の間違いがあったとしても、今を生きる子孫の努力でで古今東西の人間に肯定されるよう生きること。それが、祖先の恩に報いることではないか。私は、そのような生き方が子孫の役割、使命だと考えている。また、そのことを伝統を護ることの本質と考えなければならない。

 

さらに掘り下げてみれば、すべての人に親があり、友があり、祖先がある。そして伝統がある。しかし、それらが古今東西の人間に肯定されること。そのためには、今を生きる人間が、それを考え、生きることが大事である。

 

人類の一人ひとりが、そのような生き方を追求すること。それが人類の平和共存の鍵だ、と私は思っている。

That is why it is necessary to give birth to children in order to continue life. However, it is not enough just to give birth. Also, you don't have to give birth. The most important thing is to help all children feel proud.

 

In the end, I will be able to repay the kindness of those who supported me and kept me alive.

 

It is precisely because I think this way that I value the pride of wife and want to live so that she can be proud of herself.

 

However, her pride may differ from her wife's actual feelings.

What that means is that the relationship between my wife and I is no longer that of a lover. There are probably many people who would object to such an idea.

 

Still, in my opinion, pride is not something that is born from such feelings.

 

Pride is the feeling that one's own existence has been utilized. In this case, when people from all over the world look at my wife with their mind's eye, their existence will be affirmed. and. I want to live like that.

 

On the other hand, even if there were some mistakes in the judgment and actions of our ancestors and parents, Japanese people living today should live their lives in a way that would be accepted by people of all ages, east and west, through the efforts of their descendants living today. Isn't that what we should do to repay the kindness of our ancestors? I believe that such a way of life is the role and mission of our descendants. Furthermore, we must consider this as the essence of preserving tradition.

 

If you dig deeper, everyone has parents, friends, and ancestors. And there is tradition. However, they must be affirmed by people of all ages, east and west. To achieve this, it is important for people living today to think about and live their lives.

 

Each human being should pursue such a way of life. I believe this is the key to peaceful coexistence of humanity.

 

 

 

Note: Just to clarify, I believe that life is the most important thing. However, I believe that the way to make the most of life is to protect each person's pride.This is the spirit of REI in Takushin Budo.
