Just a day after their unsuccessful attempt to launch a spy satellite, North Korea has made clear that another attempt will take place soon.
This time, the regime leader's sister Kim Yo-jong spoke up, solidifying its five-year military advancement plan.
Shin Se-byuck starts us off.

Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, says Pyongyang's reconnaissance satellite will soon be launched successfully into orbit to carry out missions, while reaffirming the North's resolute intention to develop reconnaissance means.
This is according to a statement carried by Pyongyang's state-run Korean Central News Agency on Thursday.
She also reiterated that Pyongyang is not interested in engaging in dialogue with the U.S., saying the regime has nothing to benefit from Washington's "hostile policy". 
Kim Yo-jong's statement was released a day after the North's failed attempt to launch a military spy satellite. 

Early on Wednesday, Pyongyang fired off the space launch vehicle from Dongchang-ri in Pyonganbuk-do Province. 
It launched at around 6:29 AM and traveled in a southward direction before it fell into the West Sea due to engine failure.
The attempt came only a day after Pyongyang spoke of its plan to launch a satellite into orbit sometime between May 31st and June 11th.

Following the crash into the sea, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff identified what they believe to be a part of the projectile and retrieved it.
They are now in the process of examining what was found.
As for the reasons behind the failure, Seoul's intelligence agency points to the North's decision to suddenly shift the course of the vehicle toward the west, as well as a drastically shortened preparation process.

Meanwhile, after the failure, the KCNA said that North Korea is currently analyzing what went wrong and will launch another rocket in the near future. 
To that, officials from Seoul's presidential office say the timing could come sometime before the 11th of this month,.. aligning with Pyongyang's previously shared timeline.

Indigenous protesters faced off with Sao Paulo police Tuesday in a dispute over protections for ancestral lands in Brazil.

Outside Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, protesters blocked a major highway and confronted police with bows and arrows, angry with a proposed law that would limit their ability to win protected status for their lands.

The law, which is set to be voted on by the lower house, would allow for reservations to be built only on land that was occupied by native people when Brazil passed its constitution in 1988. The house fast-tracked the bill because of pressure from Brazil’s powerful agricultural lobby, which aims to end conflicts between farmers and Indigenous communities.

Bill 490 could impact hundreds of territories currently under evaluation for protected status.

岸田総理の長男で、秘書官を務める翔太郎氏に、また“公私混同”が疑われる事態が明らかになりました。総理公邸に親族を招いて忘年会を開き、組閣の際に新閣僚が並ぶひな壇などでの記念撮影に興じていたということです。

文春オンラインが25日に配信した画像では、12人の男女のセンターに翔太郎氏が、サンダル姿のリラックスした様子で微笑んでいます。別の写真では、アイスのようなカップを手に、階段に寝そべる姿も。こちらの男性は、岸田総理の甥と報じられています。

25日に発売された週刊文春の誌面には他にも、演説台でポーズを決める男女の姿も掲載されていますが、本来は、賓客をもてなしたり、記者会見を行うための場所です。

立憲民主党・田名部匡代参院議員：「公私混同も甚だしい」

26日の予算委員会。野党から事実関係を問われた岸田総理は…。

岸田総理：「公邸内の私的な居住スペースで、親族と食事を共にすることは、特段問題がないと認識していますが、総理大臣の迎賓機能・執務機能を擁する公的スペースもあるわけで、事実関係を確認し、本人に厳しく注意を行った」

立憲民主党・田名部匡代参院議員：「身内にだから甘いと言われるようなことは、一国のトップリーダーとして、資質に欠けると言われるだろうと。厳しく対処すべきではないか。更迭すべきではないか」

岸田総理：「報道にあるような行動、不適切だったと認識しています。今後どうあるべきなのか、そういったことを勘案したうえで、厳重に注意をした」

翔太郎氏をめぐっては1月にも、総理外遊中に、公用車で観光したり、土産物を購入した疑惑が問題になっていました。

自民党中堅議員：「荒井秘書官は（LGBT問題めぐり）あっさり首を切ったのに、翔太郎氏は今回も守るというのか。さすがに甘すぎるのではないかという声は、党内でも結構聞く」
