Both "You have acute..." and "You have a cute..." are pronounced exactly the same.


「あなたは、急性（...病名）です。」でも、「あなたの、（...名詞）は可愛い。」でも、全く同じように発音されます。


So the determinant whether "acute" or "a cute" is the noun that follows.


ですから、「急性の」か「可愛い（何か）」かを決めるのは、それに続く名詞になります。


In this case, it is "appendicitis."


この場合は、「虫垂炎」です。


Because the blonde did not know the word "appendicitis," she thought that the doctor praised her for having a cute something. That is why she replied to the doctor, "That's sweet, doc..."


金髪の女性が、「虫垂炎」という言葉を知らなかったので、医者が「あなたの、なんとかが可愛い。」とお世辞を言ったと思い、「先生、優しいことをおっしゃってくれますが。。。」という、返事をしたということでした。


These jokes are called "dumb－blonde jokes." They are not in good taste. The saying "Blondes are dumb" are a myth and not true. Never join dumb people to call blondes dumb.


こういったジョークは、「馬鹿な金髪女性ジョーク」と呼ばれます。あまり趣味のいいものではありません。「金髪の女性が馬鹿だ。」とはよく耳にしますが、迷信で、事実ではありません。馬鹿な人に混ざって、金髪の人を馬鹿だなどと決して言わないようにね。
