嫌韓とヘイトスピーチ

　私は韓国を訪れた時、全く歓迎されていないと感じた。それは、ガイドさんの態度から感じたことだ。パック旅行だったので、日本の旅行代理店もそれなりの人と契約しているはずだし、日本語がペラペラだったから教育を受けた人のはずだった。

　しかし、その態度は客に対するものではなかった。

　台湾を旅行した時は、まったく逆の感じがした。本当に心温まる思い出が多い。日本の統治時代のことも余り傷になっていない感じがした。

　私は韓国が反日国家であり、台湾が親日国家であるという知識は持ち合わせていたが、これほど大きな違いがあるとは行ってみないと分からないことだった。

　ハワイを旅した時、適当に現地の旅行バスに乗ったら真珠湾のアリゾナ記念館に連れて行かれた。ガイドの音声が流れ「ここで日本軍の奇襲攻撃にあって多くの犠牲者がでた」とのアナウンス。ちょっと居心地がよくなかったけれど、周囲の白人たちに攻撃されたり非難されないことは分かっていた。

　アメリカのユタ州の中学校で１年間教えていたことがある。社会の時間にある少年が「原爆を落とされて日本人は怒っていたか？」と尋ねられた。少年は、日本人の私に尋ねても大丈夫であり、私も冷静に応えるという信頼感があったわけだ。

　しかし、韓国人は違う。話さえ出来ない。

　中国のペキンを訪れた時のガイドはプロだった。冗談を交えて流暢な日本語を使ってお客さんを笑わせていた。本心は分からないが、少なくとも表面上は仲良く出来た。

　こうして見ると、朝鮮半島の人の性格の異常さが際立つ。私の塾生である中学生や高校生でさえ、留学先なら先進国がいいと言い、韓国は先進国の中に入っていない。やはり、ものには限度があるので韓国は今のままでは先進国の仲間入りは無理な気がする。

I felt totally unwelcome when I visited Korea. That was felt from the attitude of the guide. Because it was a packed trip, the Japanese travel agency would have contracted with a decent person, and it was supposed to be an educated person because Japanese was fluent.    I have taught for one year at a junior high school in Utah, USA. A boy in social time asked, "Is the Japanese angry after the atomic bomb was dropped?" The boy was safe to ask me Japanese, and I had the confidence to respond calmly.

   However, Koreans are different. I can't even talk.

When I visited Beijing, my guide was professional. I was joking and making my customers laugh using fluent Japanese. I don't know what it really is, but at least on the surface I could get along.

I n this way, the personality abnormalities of the Korean Peninsula stand out. Even my junior high school students and high school students say that developed countries are good if they study abroad, and Korea is not among developed countries. After all, there is a limit to things, so Korea feels that it is impossible to join developed countries as it is now.
